The 3035 caliber was replaced by the 3135 caliber, further refining its performance. This caliber remained the longest-used movement by Rolex. In the late 1990s, Rolex ceased using tritium and started using superluminova on all dials from the year 2000.

Datejust

In the year 1945, the first Datejust was introduced to commemorate Rolex's 40th anniversary under the reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a waterproof case that also displayed the date and automatically changed it at midnight. The Datejust was equipped with the fluted bezel and the renowned Jubilee bracelet, which was specially designed for the Datejust. The date was indicated at the 3 o'clock position. Ten years later, in 1955, the date window was fitted with a Cyclops lens, magnifying the date up to 2.5 times.

Most iconic Rolex models were produced as tool watches. However, the Datejust had no specific purpose. This model was meant to be a classic, reliable, and versatile watch suitable for any occasion in daily life.
