Omega Speedmaster 145.022-71ST + Dutch Extract Of The Archives (1974)

In 1957, the Omega Speedmaster was introduced. This model was designed as a tool watch, among other things for use in the racing world. The Speedmaster features a chronograph function. The model gained worldwide fame when it was chosen by NASA as the first watch on the moon. NASA was looking for a durable and reliable timepiece for its astronauts, and Omega was the only one to pass all the rigorous tests conducted between 1964 and 1965. Omega was then officially certified by NASA, and the entire crew of the Apollo 11 mission wore a Speedmaster. Since then, the Speedmaster Professional has been Omega's most famous watch.

As you may know, we at 10 over 10 are big fans of vintage Omega Speedmaster watches, but! Only if they are in perfect and fully original condition. And yes, this Omega Speedmaster 145.022-71ST certainly is! This model is part of the famous ST (stainless steel) series and is a direct successor to the 145.022 that was introduced in 1969, shortly after the first moon landing. The watch is in beautiful condition, with its razor-sharp unpolished case, making all the original angles and lines still perfectly visible. Of course, we must not forget the original step dial! Characteristically, this type of dial from this year tends to discolor less attractively, often to a green color, but with this dial, we certainly cannot complain! The tritium has nicely and evenly aged to a soft beige color along with the hands and is of course completely clean. Furthermore, this vintage Omega Speedmaster is equipped with an original Omega plexiglass. Naturally, we must not forget the period-correct B2 bezel, Omega winding crown, and pushers!

What completes this Omega Speedmaster 145.022-71ST is the matching 1171 bracelet with 633 end links. The bracelet is sought after among Omega collectors and is unfortunately not often found in good condition or still preserved. The bracelet shows acceptable stretch and some signs of wear. The clasp has a scratch/dent at the bottom right, which is difficult to see in photos, but of course this part has also been kept in its original condition.

We cannot forget the renowned Omega 861 caliber, which has undergone a full service by our watchmaker.

We would prefer not to part with it, but this beautiful Omega Speedmaster 145.022-71ST, delivered in the Netherlands and dating from 1974, comes with its original Omega Extract of the Archives and 24 months warranty on the movement.

Omega

La Generale Watch Co., the parent company of Omega, was founded in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland, by 23-year-old Louis Brandt, who was assembling watches. In 1866, Louis Brandt passed away, and the business was continued by his two sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar, who decided to have the assembly done at one location. The brothers made enormous strides forward, and in 1894, they launched a new caliber: the famous 19-line caliber. The caliber was so precise and successful that the brothers decided to change their company name to "Omega Watch Co." in 1903. Since 1998, Omega has been owned by the Swatch Group under the name Omega SA.
