Omega Speedmaster 3570.50 'Tritium Dial'
In 1957, the Omega Speedmaster was introduced. This model was designed as a tool watch, among other uses in the racing world. The Speedmaster features a chronograph function. The model gained worldwide fame when it was chosen by NASA as the first watch on the moon. NASA was looking for a durable and reliable timepiece for its astronauts, and Omega was the only one to pass all the rigorous tests conducted between 1964 and 1965. Omega was then officially certified by NASA, and the entire crew of the Apollo 11 mission wore a Speedmaster. Since then, the Speedmaster Professional has been Omega's most famous watch.
The Omega Speedmaster we are offering here, with reference 3570.50, dates from the year 1996. That is also the year Omega ceased production of its predecessor, reference 3590.50. Omega then transitioned from tritium to Luminova and equipped the watch with the 1499 bracelet. This specific piece is still fitted with a tritium dial and matching hands, something that was common in the early years of this reference. And we certainly don't mind that! Just look at that beautiful orange discoloration (patina).
Additionally, the watch is in beautiful condition; we rarely encounter vintage Omega Speedmaster models! The case is razor-sharp, the period-correct 1499 bracelet shows no stretch, and the original plexiglass with engraved Omega logo is still present. The 861 movement was fully serviced last year in 2024 by our watchmaker. This beautiful vintage Omega Speedmaster 3570.50 from the year 1996 comes with a 1-year mechanical warranty from 10 over 10.

Omega
La Generale Watch Co., the parent company of Omega, was founded in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland, by 23-year-old Louis Brandt, who was assembling watches. In 1866, Louis Brandt passed away, and the company was continued by his two sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar, who decided to have the assembly done at a single location. The brothers made enormous strides forward, and in 1894, they launched a new caliber: the famous 19-line caliber. The caliber was so precise and successful that the brothers decided to change their company name to 'Omega Watch Co.' in 1903. Since 1998, Omega has been owned by the Swatch Group under the name Omega SA.
