Rolex Day-Date 1803 'Linen dial' (1978)

The Rolex Day-Date, reference 1803, was launched shortly after the introduction of the model and produced until around 1978. The 1803 remains to this day one of the most beloved versions among collectors.

The Day-Date 1803 has a 36 mm case made of solid 18-carat gold and is equipped with plexiglass. What makes this model extra special is the well-known pie-pan dial. The edge of the dial slopes slightly, creating a subtle depth effect, something that disappeared in later models.

The Day-Date 1803 was offered with various dial colors and day displays in multiple languages. These included English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, and even Dutch. The dials also ranged from classic white and black to special colors such as the brightly colored "Stella" dials. Inside, it houses the automatic Rolex 1556 caliber, known for its reliability.

The beautiful vintage Rolex Day-Date 1803 we have here dates back to 1978 and is therefore one of the last examples produced in the 1803 series. The watch has something that makes us very happy again: the stunning gold linen dial. A great combination, if you ask us! Of course, we must not forget the condition of the watch, just look at the razor-sharp case and the 18K gold fluted bezel, both of which are in beautiful crisp condition. Exactly how we like to see it. The original green Rolex 1803 factory sticker is also still present on the case back. This 18K gold Rolex Day-Date is a true collector's item, and with its linen dial, the perfect watch for this summer.

The matching period-correct 18K gold President bracelet with hidden clasp shows acceptable stretch for its age and is still in beautiful condition. The automatic Rolex 1556 caliber has recently undergone a full service.

This beautiful vintage Rolex Day-Date 1803 with linen dial from 1978 comes with its green hangtag and a 1-year mechanical warranty from 10 over 10.

Rolex Day-Date

The first Rolex Day-Date, also known as the "President," was introduced in 1956. To this day, it has remained the distinctive status watch of Rolex. When Rolex launched the Day-Date, it was the first wristwatch to display both the full day of the week at the 12 o'clock position and the date at the 3 o'clock position. Another feature of the Day-Date is the famous President bracelet, which was specially designed for this model and has been supplied since its introduction. This bracelet has become almost as famous as the watch itself. The nickname "President" became especially popular after prominent world leaders, including U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson, were seen wearing a Day-Date.
