Rolex Oyster Speedking Precision Ref. 2280 (ca. 1954)
The Rolex Oyster Speedking was introduced in the 1940s. During this period, Rolex was already known for its solid and reliable watches. The Speedking was positioned as a compact model with a sleek and timeless design. The addition of "Precision" refers to the manual-wind movement.
The reference 2280 we have here dates from the 1940s and early 1950s, a time when watches were smaller than today. With a case diameter of approximately 29–30 mm, this model is typical of that period. The steel Oyster case is completely original and unpolished and features a screw-down case back with Rolex crown engraving and a smooth bezel. The original winding crown is period-correct and relatively large compared to the watch, making it wear slightly larger than one would expect based on the size.
This vintage Rolex 2280 features its original white dial and has a subdial at the six o'clock position, which serves as a seconds hand. Of course, we cannot forget the faceted hour markers and the so-called dauphine hands. This combination represents a true piece of Rolex history and makes it a genuine collectible, if you ask us, and of course it makes us very happy!
It can be said that the Rolex Speedking has become a beloved vintage model among collectors. It is precisely the modest size, the manual-wind movement, and the simple appearance that make reference 2280 a beautiful piece of Rolex history, cherished by vintage watch collectors today.
The watch is powered by a manual-wind Rolex caliber, which has recently undergone a full service by our watchmaker. This vintage Rolex Oyster Speedking Precision reference 2280 comes with a 24-month warranty on the movement.

Rolex
Rolex was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf in London and later established itself in Geneva, Switzerland. From the beginning, the brand was known for precision, quality, and reliability. In its early years, Rolex produced watches with a practical purpose: they needed to be reliable for people with active professions and demanding conditions. In 1926, Rolex introduced the Oyster, the first watch with a fully sealed case that was waterproof and dustproof. Through this combination of craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless design, Rolex grew to become one of the most iconic watch brands in the world.
