Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600 (1990)

In the year 1988, the Rolex Sea-Dweller reference 16600 was introduced. This was the replacement for the previous reference 16660, also known as the triple six. The Sea-Dweller 16600 is a perfect mix between modern and vintage. This model was in production for no less than 20 years. In terms of design, the differences from its predecessor were only minimal. The main reason for the change to the reference 16600 was the switch from the 3035 calibre to the new 3135 calibre.

This Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600 dates from year 1990 and is in beautiful condition with its sharp lugs and thick case. This watch is the perfect mix between vintage and modern. The oyster bracelet shows a slight acceptable stretch for its age. The dial and hands still have the original tritium. When viewed from different angles, they start to show a nice even light beige discolouration. The white pearl on the aluminium bezel shows a nice discolouration. The watch comes with a 1-year warranty from 10 over 10.

Rolex Sea-Dweller

Together with the Rolex Submariner, the Rolex Sea-Dweller is one of the most recognizable watches in the world. The Sea-Dweller was introduced in the year 1967 under the reference 1665. The basic design of the Sea-Dweller is very similar to the Submariner. The most striking differences are the absence of the date cyclops and a slightly thicker case. The Rolex Submariner was the world's first commercially produced diving watch that was introduced in the year 1954. This watch had a water resistance of 100 meters, which was later improved to 200 meters. Rolex's goal was to triple this rate. Rolex carried out many experiments in cooperation with the French deep-sea diving specialist COMEX. This led to a new development of an ''escape valve'' that later became the characteristic of the Sea-Dweller. Compared to the Rolex Submariner, the Rolex Sea-Dweller has a depth rate of 1220 meters.
