Tudor Oyster 9000/0 'Silver Dial / Rolex 7835 Bracelet' (1979)

The Tudor Oyster is one of the most iconic and historical models of Tudor. The very first Oyster models appeared in the 1940s and were inspired by the well-known Rolex Oyster, which was famous for its waterproof screw-down crown and screwed case back. The early Tudor Oyster models closely resembled the Rolex Oyster and often shared the same case, crown, hands, glass, and sometimes even the bracelet.

The Tudor Oyster reference 9000/0 was mainly produced from the 1950s to around the 1960s/70s. The Tudor Oyster models were powered by a manual winding movement, which was often supplied by external suppliers such as ETA and Fleurier. A characteristic detail is the printing "Shock-Resisting" on the dial. At that time, shock resistance was still a strong selling point, and brands found it important to emphasize this. The movement is therefore often equipped with Incabloc or KIF shock protection.

The vintage Tudor Oyster 9000/0 that we are offering here dates back to around 1979 and is in beautiful vintage condition. The silver dial shows a subtle beige undertone depending on the light, giving it a true vintage look! The 35 mm unpolished steel case is still thick and the lugs are sharp, making all original corners and curves perfectly visible. The tritium on the dial and hands is also still intact.

Furthermore, this vintage Tudor Oyster 9000/0 is equipped with a folded Oyster bracelet from Rolex, which shows some stretch, a characteristic aspect of these models, but is nevertheless in good condition. A great combination if you ask us!

This vintage Tudor Oyster 9000/0 has been fully serviced and comes with a 24-month mechanical warranty from 10 over 10.

Tudor

Rolex was founded in 1905 by the famous German businessman Hans Wilsdorf. In 1926, Rolex introduced its first waterproof watch, the iconic Oyster. In that same year, founder Hans Wilsdorf had another goal in mind: he wanted to create a watch brand that was more accessible to a wider audience, but with the same quality and reliability as Rolex. Wilsdorf commissioned the dealer Philippe Hüther in Geneva to create the Tudor brand. While Rolex used high-quality in-house movements, Tudor had its movements produced elsewhere and utilized ETA movements. This allowed Tudor to maintain its affordability. A significant part of Tudor's success in its early years was due to the fact that it was allowed to use Rolex's waterproof Oyster case, giving buyers access to the legendary durability of Rolex, but at a more affordable price point.
