Omega Constellation Day-Date 168.016 (1968)

The Omega Constellation is perhaps one of the most refined models in the collection, with a wide variety of versions. This model was launched by Omega in 1952. The name refers to a constellation that moves consistently and predictably. A beautiful symbol of the reliability of the watches in this series!

Omega broke every precision record at the Geneva Observatory, creating a strong bond with astronomy. This connection is also reflected in the logo of the Constellation series: an image of the Geneva Observatory, surrounded by eight stars symbolizing Omega’s greatest chronometric achievements. This iconic logo is often found on the back of the case, while a single star adorns the dial.

The vintage Omega Constellation Day-Date 168.016 that we have here is in perfect condition. The steel case and lugs have remained razor-sharp and appear unpolished, so all the original curves and lines are still perfectly visible. The watch features a silver-colored tritium dial that, depending on the light, shows a subtle beige undertone. Furthermore, at the bottom of the dial, the characteristic Observatory star is visible, a subtle detail that refers to the rich chronometer tradition of the Omega Constellation.

In addition, this vintage Omega Constellation 168.016 is equipped with a new, smooth black leather strap. The plexiglass is original and bears the characteristic Omega engraving in the center. The Omega crown is also original and correct for the period in which the watch was produced. This Constellation is powered by the automatic 751 caliber, which has recently been fully inspected by our watchmaker. The movement is still in good condition and therefore did not require servicing.

This beautiful Omega Constellation Day-Date 168.016 comes with a one-year warranty from 10 over 10.

Omega

La Generale Watch Co., the parent company of Omega, was founded in 1848 in the Swiss town of La Chaux de Fonds by the 23-year-old Louis Brandt, who was engaged in assembling watches. In 1866, Louis Brandt passed away, and the company was continued by his two sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar, who decided to centralize the assembly process. The brothers made enormous progress, and in 1894 they introduced a new caliber to the market: the well-known 19-ligne caliber. The caliber was so precise and successful that the brothers decided to change their company name in 1903 to "Omega Watch Co." Since 1998, Omega has been owned by the Swatch Group under the name Omega SA.
