Blancpain Villeret Ultra-Slim 18K - Ref. 0021-1418-55 - Full Set (Ca. 2001)
For Blancpain collectors, the Villeret name is music to their ears. This name has been associated with Blancpain for centuries. The classic Villeret line was introduced in the 1980s. Looking back to 1735, we see that Jehan-Jacques Blancpain began as a watchmaker in the Swiss village of Villeret. It was here that the foundations were laid for Blancpain, which is considered one of the oldest watch brands in the world today! The name Villeret therefore refers directly to this special place in the Swiss Jura. Although Blancpain had been active in Villeret since 1735, Villeret only became the name of a watch collection much later. The Villeret is therefore not only a stylish vintage watch, but also a beautiful piece of Blancpain history.
The beautiful neo-vintage Blancpain Villeret watch with reference 0021-1418-55 that we have here was sold in 2001, and is therefore one of the last examples from this series. The case is made entirely of 18K yellow gold and is in beautiful condition, allowing all the original angles and lines to be seen perfectly. The case features the so-called double stepped bezel, characterized by a stacked bezel. All the gold hallmarks are also still perfectly visible. The white dial, featuring gold Roman hour markers, gives the watch a fresh and chic appearance.
What we naturally also appreciate is the open caseback, which reveals the beautiful, ultra-thin, hand-wound Blancpain Frédéric Piguet calibre 21. A technical masterpiece measuring barely 1.73 mm in thickness. This specially designed hand-wound movement is known in the watch world for its reliability and minimalist construction without a seconds hand. The movement keeps time accurately, so a full service was not necessary at this time.
This classic 34 mm Blancpain Villeret comes with its original 18K yellow gold buckle, completing the watch and allowing it to be attached to any strap. The watch comes as a full-set, with its outer box, box, booklet, papers, and a 2-year mechanical warranty.

Blancpain
Blancpain's history dates back to 1735, when Jehan-Jacques Blancpain established himself as a watchmaker in the Swiss village of Villeret. This makes Blancpain one of the oldest surviving watch brands in the world.
Over the centuries, the maison developed into a manufacturer strongly associated with traditional mechanical watchmaking. Blancpain is known for its attention to refined movements, craftsmanship, and a clear preference for mechanical watches.
After a difficult period during the quartz crisis, Blancpain gained new momentum in the 1980s. Under the leadership of Jean-Claude Biver and Jacques Piguet, the brand once again focused entirely on mechanical watches. The well-known thought behind this period was therefore: “Since 1735, there has never been a quartz Blancpain.”
