Cartier Santos Octagon 2965 ''Slate grey / Ghost Dial''

The Cartier Santos was designed by Louis Cartier in the year 1904. He created this for his good friend Alberto Santos Dumont, a Brazilian aviation pioneer. Before that time, many watches and pocket watches were round in shape. But the Cartier Santos was given a more outspoken design, which was a square case with screws in the bezel. About 70 years later, these two designs would be introduced together by Gerald Genta in the Royal Oak.

Those who are interested in watches will surely have come across the name Gerald Genta. He was a jeweller who had art as a personal hobby, a true legend in the Swiss watch industry from the 20th century! His name is in line with the most successful watches of all time: the Audemars Piquet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus. The most recognisable aspects are the octagonal bezel combined with its screws.

In the 1990s, Cartier revised the Santos model. They did this by replacing it with an octagonal case and matching bezel with screws. This was probably a wink to the Royal Oak. The Cartier Santos Octagon came in two variants: all-steel and, like this stunning example, steel/gold.

This Santos Octagon has something special that makes us very happy! Surely this is the matte grey dial without hour markers. A great mix between vintage and modern. When the watch is seen from different angles, the Cartier logo sometimes disappears like snow under the sun. This creates the same effect as the Rolex Ghost dial. The slim 29mm case shape makes this watch perfect for both women and men. The integrated Cartier bracelet with the logo on the clasp makes this watch wear like a great piece of jewellery. This 90s Cartier Santos Octagon with 'slate grey' dial comes with a 1-year warranty.
