Rolex Datejust 16200 Silver/Crème dial

In the late 1980s, the Datejust reference 16200 was best known as the new generation of Datejusts with domed bezel. Deviating from the ever-popular fluted bezel variation, Rolex presented the reference 16200, a watch that was just a bit more casual in everyday use, but still had that signature Rolex look in its versatile design and various dial options.

The Rolex Datejust 16200 is the watch for everyday use and a perfect mix of vintage and modern. The watch has a case size of 36 mm and runs on the reliable 3135 calibre. This Rolex Datejust comes on a stainless steel Oyster bracelet that shows little to no stretch for its age. The Oyster bracelet gives the watch a sportier and less dressy look than the well-known Jubilee bracelet. This beautiful Datejust is fitted with a smooth bezel, also called domed bezel, something you don't often see on a Datejust. Under the sapphire glass you will find a silver tritium dial which show a beautiful cream patina that has developed over the years. Something that makes us very happy, of course!

Rolex Datejust

In the year 1945 the first Datejust was introduced in honour of the 40-year existence of Rolex, under the reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a watertight case that also indicated the date. It even automatically transitioned the date after midnight. The Datejust was equipped with a serrated bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet, especially designed for the Datejust. The date was placed on the 3-hour mark. Ten years later, in 1955, the date-window was given a "cyclops lens", which magnifies the date up to two and a half times.

Rolex's most iconic models were produced to function as "tool watches". The Datejust, however, did not have a specific purpose. This model was supposed to be a classic, reliable, everyday watch, suitable for any occasion in day-to-day life.
