Rolex Datejust 16200 'Silver Patina Dial' (1997)
The Rolex Datejust 16200 was produced from approximately 1988 to 2004. This reference features a smooth (domed) bezel instead of the well-known fluted bezel made of 18K white gold. This gives the Datejust 16200 a slightly more understated and sporty appearance. The Datejust 16200 is often delivered with an Oyster bracelet instead of the elegant Jubilee bracelet. Additionally, this reference is available with various dial variants, including different colors and versions with stick indices, Roman numerals, Arabic numerals, or diamonds. The Rolex Datejust 16200 is a versatile model that is perfectly suitable for everyday use!
The Rolex Datejust 16200 we have here features a silver tritium dial with a Roman minute track around it. The period-correct silver dial shows a slight, even beige patina, which is characteristic of this type of dial and gives it a warm appearance. This certainly makes us happy! We must not forget the 36 mm case, which is still razor-sharp and even appears unpolished! The period-correct, sporty 78360 Oyster bracelet with U-clasp code shows acceptable stretch for its age but is still in good condition.
The reliable 3135 movement has undergone a service by our watchmaker and is ready to be worn for years. This beautiful Rolex Datejust 16200 from 1997 comes with a 2-year warranty on the movement.

Rolex Datejust
In 1945, the first Datejust was introduced to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rolex under reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a waterproof case that also indicated the date and automatically changed after midnight. The Datejust was equipped with a fluted bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet that was specially designed for the Datejust. The date was displayed at the 3 o'clock position. Ten years later, in 1955, the date window was equipped with a cyclops lens that magnified the date by up to 2.5 times.
Most of Rolex's iconic models were produced to be used as tool watches. However, the Datejust had no specific purposes. This model was meant to be a classic, reliable, and everyday watch suitable for any occasion in daily life.
