Rolex Datejust 16220 'Blue Applied Roman Dial' (2000/2001)
The Rolex Datejust reference 16220 was introduced in 1989 and was in production until around the mid-2000s. This model, like its predecessor, the Datejust 16030, features a bezel that is no longer used by Rolex: the so-called engine turned bezel. The Datejust 16220 is therefore the last reference with this bezel.
This vintage Rolex Datejust 16220 is undoubtedly a true eye-catcher, with its so-called blue applied Roman dial. The rich blue dial changes from a dark blue shade to a bright blue shade, and sometimes, when viewed from certain angles, a purple undertone even seems visible. This is something you certainly won't get tired of quickly! Thanks to the steel engine turned bezel, the watch offers the perfect mix of vintage, modern, and sporty, making it suitable for any occasion in daily life.
This Rolex Datejust 16220 from 2000/2001 is in perfect condition. The 36mm case, along with the steel engine turned bezel, is still razor-sharp and appears unpolished. The period-correct, matching Jubilee bracelet with “DE” clasp code shows virtually no stretch and is therefore still in excellent condition. The Rolex 3135 movement, which is also pleasant to use thanks to the quick-set date function, has undergone a full service.
This beautiful (neo-)vintage Rolex Datejust 16220 with blue Roman dial and engine turned bezel from 2000/2001 comes with a 1-year warranty from 10 over 10.
Note: Because we provide all our Rolex watches with a movement check and, if necessary, a complete service, it may take some time before they are available. As a result, these watches may remain on 'available soon' for a longer period.

Rolex Datejust
In the year 1945, the first Datejust was introduced to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rolex under reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a waterproof case that also indicated the date and automatically changed after midnight. The Datejust was equipped with a fluted bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet that was specially designed for the Datejust. The date was indicated at the 3 o'clock position. 10 years later, in 1955, the date window was equipped with a cyclops lens that magnified the date up to 2.5 times.
Most iconic models of Rolex were produced to be used as tool watches. However, the Datejust had no specific purposes. This model was meant to be a classic, reliable, and everyday watch suitable for any occasion in daily life.
