Rolex Datejust 16220 'silver dial' like new
The Rolex Datejust reference 16220 was introduced in the year 1989 and remained in production at Rolex until the mid 2000s. This model, like its predecessor (the Datejust 16030), is equipped with a bezel which is no longer produced by Rolex: the so-called engine turned bezel. The Datejust 16220 is also the last reference to use this bezel.
This neo-vintage Rolex has been equipped with the 3135 calibre, in combination with the quick-set date function. It's the perfect compromise for the person who appreciates the aesthetics of a vintage Rolex, while wanting the security and convenience of modern mechanics. Steel Rolex watches are generally considered fairly modest. That is why most variants are equipped with conventional dials like black, white, silver, blue and grey. However, some more vivid and extravagant options are available. Like all Datejust references, this 16220 came with both the sporty Oyster bracelet, as well as the more classy Jubilee bracelet.
This Rolex Datejust 16220 has something that makes us very happy, and that's its condition! The watch is still in like unpolished (NOS) condition. Also, the green sticker is still present at the bottom of the case back. The tritium on the dial and hands is nicely discoloured to a yellow hue, which gives the watch even more character. The jubilee bracelet which really shows 'zero' stretch tcomes in its full length with all the links complete. The movement has recently been fully serviced. This beautiful Datejust 16220 from the year 1989 comes with its outer box, box, papers, translation booklet, Datejust booklet, hangtag and 1 year warranty from 10 over 10.

Datejust
In the year 1945 the first Datejust was introduced under the 4467-reference, honouring the 40-year existence of Rolex. This was the first self-winding watch that featured both a watertight case, as well as a date-window that automatically changed the date after midnight. The Datejust was equipped with a serrated bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet, which was designed especially for the Datejust. The date was indicated on the 3-hours position. 10 years later, in 1955, the datewindow was equipped with a cyclops lens that magnified the date up to two and a half times.
The most iconic models by Rolex were made to be used as toolwatches. The Datejust, however, did not serve a specific purpose. This model simply needed to be a classic, reliable, daily watch, suitable for every occasion in everyday life.
