Rolex Datejust 16233 'Champagne Dial' (1988)

There is something special about collecting vintage Rolex watches. There are countless details that distinguish one piece from another, from unique case materials and case shapes to the refined aesthetics of the dial. These are the most prominent and immediately noticeable characteristics. You will also notice that this (neo)vintage Rolex 16233 with champagne dial is a true classic!

Along with the introduction of the Datejust, the iconic five-piece Jubilee bracelet was also launched. Initially, this was available in solid gold, followed by the bicolor variant. At that time, buyers could choose between a Jubilee or an Oyster bracelet, although the latter is less common with Datejust 16233 models. This watch is a perfect example of how an elegant vintage Datejust should look. The combination of the steel case, the 18K yellow gold bezel, the champagne dial, and the gold steel Jubilee bracelet creates an iconic, elegant, and at the same time sporty appearance.

This beautiful (neo)vintage Rolex Datejust 16233 with old-school champagne dial from 1988 is in excellent condition. This vintage Datejust is the first series 16233, which was launched in 1988 as the successor to the Datejust 16013 with plexiglass.

The 36 mm steel case is razor-sharp and, along with the 18K yellow gold fluted bezel, is in beautiful condition, which of course makes us very happy. The period-correct Jubilee bracelet shows slight, acceptable stretch and is also in good condition!

The reliable caliber 3135 movement has been checked and keeps time perfectly, so a full service was not necessary this time. This neo-vintage Rolex Datejust 16233 from 1988 comes with a 24-month warranty on the movement from 10 over 10.

Datejust

In the year 1945, the first Datejust was introduced to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rolex under reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a waterproof case that also indicated the date and automatically changed after midnight. The Datejust was equipped with the fluted bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet that was specially designed for the Datejust. The date was indicated at the 3 o'clock position. 10 years later, in 1955, the date window was equipped with a cyclops lens that magnified the date up to 2.5 times.

Most iconic models of Rolex were produced to be used as tool watches. However, the Datejust had no specific purposes. This model was meant to be a classic, reliable, and everyday watch suitable for any occasion in daily life.
