Rolex Datejust 16233 Linen Dial / Like NOS Condition / Box + Papers / 1991-1992

There is something special about collecting vintage Rolex watches. Countless details distinguish one example from another, from unique case materials and shapes to the refined aesthetics of the dial. These are the most prominent and immediately noticeable features. You will therefore immediately notice that this (neo)vintage Rolex Datejust 16233 does not have an ordinary dial, but rather a warm champagne/gold-colored linen dial. The name refers to the texture of the dial, which resembles a linen pattern. A true eye-catcher!

Along with the introduction of the Datejust, the iconic five-piece Jubilee bracelet was also launched. It first appeared in solid gold, followed by the two-tone variant. At the time, buyers could choose between a Jubilee or Oyster bracelet, although the latter is less common on Datejust 16233 models. This watch is a perfect example of what an elegant vintage Datejust should look like. The combination of the steel case, 18K yellow gold bezel, champagne/gold-colored linen dial, and gold-and-steel Jubilee bracelet creates an iconic and elegant appearance.

This beautiful (neo)vintage Rolex Datejust 16233 with linen dial from 1991/1992 is truly in exceptional condition. The watch is almost like new and could even be considered NOS (New Old Stock), something we rarely come across anymore with watches of this age! The 36 mm steel case, together with the 18K yellow gold fluted bezel, is still razor-sharp and unpolished. The original green Rolex 16233 factory sticker is still present on the case back.

The Rolex 62523H-18 Jubilee bracelet with 455B end links is in perfect, unworn condition and shows no stretch. The bracelet comes complete with all links. A small piece of the original sticker is still present on the inside of the clasp. The clasp has code S4 (April 1994), making it slightly newer than the watch and the sale date of 04-12-1993. The bracelet was probably produced later and may have been fitted to the watch after the date of sale.

The reliable 3135 movement had never been serviced because the watch was unworn, but it has recently undergone a service. As the movement was only dry and showed no signs of wear, no parts needed to be replaced. The movement was completely disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and regulated, so it is once again ready to be used for many years.

This beautiful vintage Rolex Datejust 16233 with linen dial comes with its papers, which show that the watch was sold in 1993 (04-12-1993). The watch also comes with outer box, box, Rolex wallet, booklets, hang tags, and a 2-year warranty on the movement.

Characteristic of this type of Rolex box is that it generally wears and ages quickly and is of lower quality due to the wood used at the time. The box therefore shows signs of wear and aging.

Rolex Datejust

The first Datejust was introduced in 1945 to celebrate Rolex's 40th anniversary, under reference 4467. It was the first self-winding watch with a waterproof case that also displayed the date and automatically changed it at midnight. The Datejust was fitted with the fluted bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet, which was specially designed for the Datejust. The date was displayed at the 3 o'clock position. Ten years later, in 1955, the date window was fitted with a Cyclops lens that magnified the date up to 2.5 times.

Most iconic Rolex models were produced for use as tool watches. However, the Datejust had no specific purpose. This model was intended to be a classic, reliable, everyday watch suitable for every occasion in daily life.
