Rolex Explorer 124270 (Full-Set / NL delivered 2022)
At 10 over 10, we have a fondness for vintage watches, but sometimes we like to make an exception for models that fit perfectly into our collection. And this modern 36 mm Rolex Explorer 124270 certainly does! Looking back at previous years and references, Rolex introduced the reference 114270 in 2001, with exactly the same diameter as this Explorer 124270. In 2010, Rolex stopped producing the Explorer in 36 mm and replaced the model with a 39 mm variant under reference 214270. In our opinion, this size is too large for the Explorer. Fortunately, Rolex saw the light again in 2021, and the introduction of reference 124270 marked the return to the original case size of 36 mm.
The Rolex Explorer 124270 we have here dates from 2022 and was purchased from an official Dutch Rolex retailer in 2022. We acquired this watch directly from the first owner, coming from a private collection. The watch is in beautiful condition, apart from some very light signs of use (hairline scratches) on the clasp and the side of the case, which are barely visible and certainly not disturbing. We have consciously chosen to keep the watch in its original and unpolished state. The steel Oyster bracelet, equipped with a secure Oysterlock folding clasp, an Easylink extension link, and of course all original links, shows no stretch.
This sporty, modern 36 mm Rolex Explorer 124270 comes as a complete set: including outer box, box, papers (card), booklets, Rolex wallet, Rolex hangtags, and bezel protector. Additionally, the watch comes with a 5-year Rolex warranty from the original purchase date in 2022, as stated on the warranty card.

Rolex Explorer
The name Explorer, which dates back to 1953, says it all... exploration! Rolex was involved in various explorations until the 1930s and tested watches on Himalayan expeditions to ensure that the watches could withstand extreme temperatures and low oxygen levels. In 1953, Rolex reached a peak when it became known that Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary had reached the summit of Mount Everest with a Rolex watch. However, this watch did not yet have the typical Explorer features, such as the large '3-6-9' dial and the famous Mercedes hand. Nevertheless, Rolex registered the name Explorer in 1953.
