Submariner 14060M

In 1990 the Submariner reference 14060 was introduced. This model became the updated version of its legendary and our favourite reference 5513 which was introduced in 1962. The perfect combination of vintage and modern. The Submariner 14060 had a number of improvements over the 5513, including an increased depth rating to 300m/1000ft. The plexiglass was replaced with sapphire crystal, the movement also received an upgraded 3000 Rolex calibre. The Submariner 14060 still has the simple design, but retains many of the esthetics and elements that make the earlier no-date Submariners so great.

The Rolex Submariner 14060 remained in production until 1999. After that the 14060 was replaced by the 14060M like this model. The ''M'' stands for ''modified''. The watch was provided with a modified movement, the 3130 calibre. The first generation Submariners had dials with two lines of text, despite the modified movement, also known as the ''two-liner''. This was probably due to the extra cost of COCS testing. It was only at the beginning of 2007 that the 14060M received official Chronometer Certification. Therefore this was also indicated on the dial with four rows of text.
