Rolex Yacht-Master 16622 'Rolesium / Platinum' (2006)

A well-known saying from Rolex is: "You don't have to own a yacht to own a Yacht-Master!" The Rolex Yacht-Master 16622 was introduced in 1999 and marked an important milestone within the Yacht-Master collection. While the first Yacht-Master references were only available in yellow gold, Rolex introduced the now-iconic Rolesium version with the 16622: a combination of stainless steel and platinum. The case and bracelet were made of steel, while the bezel and dial were made of solid 950 platinum. This gave the Yacht-Master a more luxurious and simultaneously sportier appearance than its fully gold predecessors. The reference 16622 remained in production until 2012 and grew during that period to become one of the most recognizable Yacht-Master versions ever made.

The Yacht-Master 16622 that we have here dates from the year 2006 and is executed in the Rolesium variant, also known for its platinum dial and bezel. A great color combination with the steel. The steel 40 mm case is still in nice condition. We have not polished the watch and have deliberately chosen to preserve the case in its original condition. Furthermore, this sporty Yacht-Master is equipped with the correct Oyster bracelet, which shows a slight acceptable stretch. There are some light signs of use on the high-gloss polished center links, but these are certainly not considered disturbing. Here too, we have chosen to keep the bracelet in its original state.

At 10 over 10, we always enjoy seeing old acquaintances again! And that is this Yacht-Master. We sold the watch two years ago to a customer, and it has now found its way back to us. When we purchased the watch at that time, the reliable Rolex 3135 caliber was serviced. Of course, the movement has been recently checked again and is still in perfect condition. It keeps time accurately and did not require a new service.
