In 2018, the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight was announced at Baselworld. This new watch is a nod to the legendary past of the brand. With a diameter of 39 mm and a height of 11.9 mm, this Black Bay is 2 mm smaller and 3 mm thinner than the regular Heritage Black Bay models. An important feature is the brand new MT5402 caliber from Tudor, specially designed for this watch. To reduce the dimensions, Tudor could not use its existing movements. The new caliber is smaller and thinner than the MT5602 caliber used in the larger Black Bay models. Nevertheless, it still offers a power reserve of 70 hours and is COSC chronometer certified.

At the beginning of 2025, many watch brands, including Rolex and Tudor, introduced their new models. And we can safely say that Tudor did not disappoint us! Here we have a brand new 39 mm Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight (58) with a burgundy, or cherry red, depending on how you want to call it, dial and bezel. A fantastic combination, if you ask us! The dial beautifully changes from dark red, almost brown, to a shiny cherry red color.

Tudor

Rolex was founded in 1905 by the famous German businessman Hans Wilsdorf. In 1926, Rolex introduced the iconic Oyster, the world's first waterproof watch. That same year, Wilsdorf had another ambitious goal: he wanted to create a watch brand that was more accessible to a wider audience, but with the same quality and reliability as Rolex.

To achieve this, he commissioned the dealer Philippe Hüther in Geneva to establish the Tudor brand. While Rolex distinguished itself with high-quality in-house movements, Tudor chose to use third-party movements, such as ETA. This allowed Tudor to keep its watches affordable without compromising on reliability.

One of the key factors behind Tudor's early success was the use of Rolex's waterproof Oyster case. This allowed buyers to benefit from Rolex's legendary durability at a more attractive price.
