Tudor Submariner 94110 'Snowflake' 1979

The reference 94110 was in production from 1968 until the 1980s. The watch was available in the black or blue dial variant, and was equipped with a quick-set date function. The Tudor Submariner was nicknamed 'Snowflake' because of its square hour markers that resemble a snowflake. This unique hand was introduced by Rolex/Tudor to increase visibility in low-light environments. Like the Rolex Submariner, the Tudor Snowflake Submariner has a long history. Tudor supplied the watches to the US Army and the French Army (Marine Nationale).

This vintage Tudor Submariner 94110 dates from the year 1979 and is in great vintage condition. The original tritium on the dial and matching hands is evenly discoloured to a nice cream colour. The black aluminium bezel is evenly faded to a dark grey hue. Something that makes us very happy! The 40mm case is thick and still has nice sharp lugs. The watch features the 7836 Rolex folded Oyster bracelet with 358 endlinks. This beautiful Snowflake comes with a one year mechanical guarantee of 10 over 10.

Tudor

Rolex was founded in 1905 by the famous German businessman Hans Wilsdorf. In 1926 Rolex introduced its first waterproof watch, the famous Oyster. In the same year founder Hans Wilsdorf had another goal: he wanted to create a watch brand that was more accessible for a larger number of people, with the same quality and reliability as Rolex. Wilsdorf assigned Geneva-based dealer Philippe Hüther to create the Tudor trademark. Rolex used high quality in-house movements. Tudor had its movements manufactured elsewhere and used ETA movements which allowed Tudor to maintain its affordability. A major part of why Tudor was able to be successful in its early years was that it was able to use Rolex's waterproof Oyster case, allowing buyers access to Rolex's legendary durability at a more affordable price point.
